From intense competition series to pulsepounding dramas to comedies that will make you shake with laughter, TV Weekly’s got a hot take on some of this winter’s newest series.
The Masked Singer
Wednesdays beginning Jan. 2
A dozen brave celebrities don outlandish costumes while trying to impress the audience and the celebrity judging panel of Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke with their best vocal performance. Each week, one costume-clad celeb will be eliminated from the competition and forced to reveal his or her identity. Nick Cannon hosts.
The Titan Games
Thursdays beginning Jan. 3
Created by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, this competition series tests male and female athletes in challenging obstacles to determine if they have what it takes to be the next Titan and to potentially walk away with $100,000. The test is an emotional and personal battle designed to push the competitors beyond their limits and reward those who exemplify hard work and determination.
America’s Got Talent:
Mondays beginning Jan. 7
Fifty of the world’s greatest acts — including Susan Boyle, Darci Lynne Farmer, Shin Lim, Paul Zerdin, Light Balance and others — are coming together to compete again for a chance to be crowned world champion. Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel serve as judges, with Terry Crews taking on hosting duties.
The World’s Best
Feb. 3 after the Super Bowl, then Wednesdays beginning Feb. 6
James Corden hosts and executive produces this unique talent competition series featuring elite acts from around the world. Performers will not only have to impress American judges Drew Barrymore, RuPaul and Faith Hill, but they’ll also need to wow the “wall of the world” — which features 50 experts from around the world representing every field of entertainment — to advance through the competition.
Million Dollar Mile
Wednesdays beginning March 27
This high-stakes competition series features the most challenging obstacle course ever designed and will test the physical and mental toughness of everyday athletes. Contestants have the opportunity to win $1,000,000 every time they run the Million Dollar Mile, but standing in their way is a group of elite athletes with one mission: to stop the contestants from winning the money at all costs. Tim Tebow hosts, along with play-byplay commentators Matt “Money” Smith and Maria Taylor.
