While attempting to brighten up their dreary new work space with a discarded frame, Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth) inadvertently knocks out an old wall, where Oliver O’Toole (Eric Mabius) and his team of postal detectives discover a hidden room, and the first clue to a postal mystery of major proportions. The secret room holds what is known in post office legend as “The Lost Mailbag of Harry Snapp,” and a package that was mailed, but never delivered, 18 years ago. Water-logged and falling apart, the package contains a porcelain vase, and remnants of a letter penned by a young girl describing her family’s impending loss of their dairy farm to foreclosure.

Oliver, Shane, Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe) and Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson), aka the POstables, snap into action, intent on reuniting the package with its rightful owner. They quickly determine to whom they think the package was sent but since that rare antiques dealer is no longer alive, they need to find the rightful senders – three sisters who, together, sent the vase in hopes of selling it in order to save their farm all those years ago.

Norman and Rita plan to marry, and Rita has invited her parents for a surprise visit to meet Norman. Bill (Barry Bostwick) and Sunny Haywith (Colleen Camp) are retired throwbacks to the days of Woodstock and hippies and, try as he might, Norman just can’t seem to win Bill over. Luckily, Oliver’s dad Joe (Gregory Harrison) is on hand to set Bill straight about Rita’s future groom.

After using every resource available, and their keen detective skills, Oliver and his team locate two of the sisters who are still living on, and working, the family’s dairy farm and looking after their mom, Kim (Kim Delaney), who is facing a health crisis. Once again, the farm is in jeopardy, and they will lose it within the week, unless the POstables can locate the third rightful sender of the package – their globe-trotting sister – and return what is now determined to be a very valuable 18th century antique to them, so that they can sell it and keep the farm. However, when Shane notices something in a photo that brings into question the family’s rightful ownership of the vase, nothing is certain anymore, until a solution appears, coming from the most unlikely of places.
