"Marrying Mr. Darcy"
Premieres Saturday, June 2 at 9 PM ET/PT on Hallmark Channel
This movie sequel to 2016’s "Unleashing Mr. Darcy" kicks off Hallmark Channel’s annual, “June Weddings” Programming Event. Cindy Busby (“Date My Dad”), Ryan Paevey (“General Hospital”) and Frances Fisher ( Titanic , Unforgiven ) star. Busby, Paevey and Fisher reprise their characters from the first film, which was a modern spin on the Jane Austen classic “Pride and Prejudice.”
Some six months after they first crossed verbal swords at a Washington D.C. dog show, schoolteacher Elizabeth Scott (Busby) and businessman/philanthropist Donovan Darcy (Paevey) are blissfully in love and newly engaged. With Donovan in agreement, she looks forward to planning a small, simple autumn wedding with the help of her mother and sister. After Donovan’s previously scornful Aunt Violet (Fisher) makes a heartfelt apology for her past behavior, Elizabeth is glad to include her in the planning process.
Violet makes swift use of her social connections to secure a coveted reservation at an historic New York church favored by generations of socially preparing for not only a much more formal event than she’d anticipated but one that will occur much, much sooner – in June, a mere two months away. As the weeks fly by and the arrangements for the wedding grow more elaborate, Elizabeth feels the burden of expectations she will face as Mrs. Darcy. Worse still, Donovan himself is wrapped up in his work and increasingly unavailable to her. Reminded yet again of their tremendous differences in background and temperament, Elizabeth can’t help but ask herself: should she marry Mr. Darcy?
