The character-driven docu-series takes viewers inside the life and kitchen of acclaimed Chef Vivian Howard and her restaurants located in the low country of eastern North Carolina. Season three of A Chef's Life finds Vivian, with husband Ben Knight and her twin children by her side, blending and balancing the high stakes of managing two restaurants, writing a new cookbook and tackling a family reunion feast, all while the farm-to-table chef’s plate is packed with food festivals and competitions.
The 13-episode season continues Chef Vivian’s exploration into both traditional and modern applications of quintessential Southern ingredients as she brings low country classics like squash and onions, okra and pickled beets to the table, along with special local-favorite guests like the Grammy® Award-nominated Avett Brothers.
“We have been able to sample so many aspects of Southern cuisine, taking the show far beyond recipe and ingredient lists,” said Chef Vivian. “Ben and I are so grateful to the viewers and especially the Kinston community who have allowed us to share a slice of our lives and an absolute appreciation for fresh farm-to-table cooking.”
“A Chef's Life has been a treat to (for) viewers and the perfect entrée on the PBS programming menu these past two seasons,” said Donald Thoms, Vice President of Programming at PBS. “We can’t wait to see the amazing Southern-style dishes Chef Vivian has in store for us in season three.”
