Starring Nikki DeLoach (“Awkward,” “Days of Our Lives”) and Andrew Walker (“Love on Ice”), the film is about stepping up to the plate. Jessica Parker (Nikki DeLoach) is a great single mom to eight year-old son Wesley (Chance Hurstfield), and is keeping her family’s small town legacy alive running the diner her Grandpa founded, which is now struggling under competition from the town’s new restaurant.
Chase Taynor (Andrew Walker) is Parker Falls’ hometown hero, a pitcher in the major leagues who is laying low back home following his dreadful pitch that lost the series for the team. They dated in high school, but ended up going their separate ways and, now each of them has someone else. With time on his hands as he awaits pickup for the new season, Chase agrees to help Wesley improve his baseball skills for a big game.
Business at the diner is flagging horribly, and Jessica wants to relaunch with a food truck, but her beau, reliable and dependable insurance agent Brett (Vincent Dangerfield) is completely against the idea due to the high risk factor. Chase, however, encourages Jess to “swing for the fences” and pursue her dream, and even agrees to assist his dad, the town’s mechanic, in restoring the food truck Jessica buys.
Jess and Chase grow closer in the days leading up to the relaunch of the diner. The food truck’s inaugural outing is a hit in town, and Chase embraces his hometown roots more and more with each passing day. It seems the guy with the million-dollar arm has fallen for both Jessica and Wesley, and has to figure out how to keep his pro baseball career without losing the two people that mean the world to him.
