Wonders of Mexico will allow us to travel south along Mexico’s mountain spine, explore the tropical forests of the Maya and journey across the deserts of Northern Mexico to discover its amazing wildlife and culture.
In the first of this three-part series, "Forests of the Maya," we travel to Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, home to the Maya, a forest rich in wildlife, including monkeys, jaguars and vibrant tropical birds. Here lies a secret underworld which holds the key to life.
In the August 8 second installment, "Mountain Worlds," we travel south down Mexico’s mountain spine to discover its amazing wildlife and culture. Mountains dominate Mexico, shaping life and culture in this diverse land. Travel south to discover black bears, fiery volcanoes, exquisite birds and millions of monarch butterflies.
In August 15 episode three, "Burning North," Northern Mexico is the country’s driest region, dominated by two great deserts: the Sonoran and Chihuahuan. And as you travel west, the conditions just get hotter, drier and more challenging. In this episode, we’ll unravel the forces that have created this arid world, and discover that for the animals who live here, overcoming these conditions can bring rich rewards.
