"Renovation Realities: Ben & Ginger"
ABC Network's Ginger Zee, best known as the chief meteorologist for Good Morning America, and her husband, NBC and Extra reporter Ben Aaron, tackle their first home renovation in DIY Network’s new series “Renovation Realities: Ben & Ginger.” The four-part series follows the duo as they ditch cramped city life to renovate a suburban fixer upper into their dream home. With help from their contractors, they gut the house to the studs, remove walls and expand the floor plan.
Their friends and family also lend a hand, including Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, Amy Robach and Lara Spencer, who join Ginger’s painting party in the series’ second episode. Along the way, Ben and Ginger face the unexpected set-backs and surprise expenses of the renovation, such as asbestos removal and unusable original flooring, with a can-do attitude and plenty of humor.
Throughout the season, Ben and Ginger work side-by-side to transform the old 1,800-square foot house into a three-bedroom, three-bathroom modern family home. They also install features they couldn’t get in their small apartment, such as a walk-in closet, a laundry room and mud room. Fun extras include a beautiful outdoor patio with a fireplace and pergola.
In the first episode, “Lessons in Kitchen Renovation,” They finally purchased the home of their dreams, but Ginger and Ben are about to learn some hard lessons as they begin renovating the kitchen. With Ben lacking even the most basic skills, Ginger has to muster the patience to get them through it.
In the May 13 at 8 PM episode, “Keeping an Eye Out,” It's time for Ben and Ginger to tackle their second major project in their house, the master bedroom and bath. Although Ben is getting better with tools, Ginger realizes he can't be left alone when he almost blows the entire budget trying to cut tiles.
