Maggie Chalke is torn between her journalistic integrity and helping her long time crush Mitch O’Grady when her boss orders her to write a story for the paper about the Secret Santa gifts she’s been sending Mitch to help him relearn his love for Christmas.
Christmas has always been a huge part of Maggie’s life. Her family starts celebrating the holiday early, and it’s always her favorite part of the year. Maggie’s second love is journalism. She majored in it at college, worked for her school’s paper, and now writes human-interest pieces for the local paper The Gazette. Maggie has always dreamed of working for a big time newspaper, but she can’t seem to get herself noticed. She finally gets her big break writing about the new radio DJ Mitch’s Secret Santa gifts, but all of that could be taken away when her boss discovers that she’s the one that’s been sending the gifts all along.
Christmas used to be Mitch’s favorite time of year. His mother taught him about giving back and made sure the house was always dressed to the nines in tinsel and holly. However, when she dies unexpectedly at Christmas, he loses his love for the holiday. He’s always loved being a DJ, even in college where he had his own radio show. He hit it big for a while, even making it to L.A., but when his radio station moves to all news, he is forced to DJ for small town Harrison just before the holidays. He doesn’t want to mention the holiday on his show at all, but when the Secret Santa gifts start helping him rebuild the fame he once had in LA, Mitch decides to go with it. It also helps that his college friend Maggie is there with him as he does these Christmas tasks. Mitch finds himself falling in love with Christmas all over again, and maybe Maggie as well. Now he just needs to figure out who’s sending these gifts.
