“Chesapeake Shores”
Premieres Sunday, August 14 at 9 PM ET/PT on Hallmark Channel
“Chesapeake Shores is based on the novels of the same name by bestselling author Sherryl Woods and stars Jesse Metcalfe (“Desperate Housewives”), Meghan Ory (“Once Upon A Time”), Golden Globe® nominee Treat Williams (“Everwood,” “Hair”) and Academy Award® nominee Diane Ladd (“Wild At Heart”). The series will launch with a two-hour movie, followed by eight one-hour episodes.
When Abby O’Brien is 17-years-old, her mother, Megan, leaves her father, Mick – along with Abby and her three siblings. The children are shocked to see her leave, and know life will never be the same. Fifteen years later, Abby lives in New York with her twin daughters, Carrie and Caitlyn. Abby is a high-powered stockbroker, and divorced. Abby returns to Chesapeake Shores with the girls for a weekend. She is happy to see Nell, the grandmother who raised her, but is concerned when her sister, Jess, shows her the home she is renovating into a bed and breakfast. As usual, Jess is in a little over her head, and needs Abby’s help with finances.

Abby runs into her high school sweetheart, Trace, who she left to move to New York after high school. Trace is now a successful country musician, but is fixing up a beach shack in town. The feelings between Trace and Abby are both charged and complicated.

Mick is Abby's dad, an imposing and stubborn self-made man whose workaholism finally caused his wife, Megan, to walk out on him and their family. As far as he's concerned, he was merely providing for his family the best way he could, and he doesn't see the toll his emotional unavailability has taken on his adult children. When daughter Abby points out his failings, it's the beginning of self-knowledge for this old school patriarch, who is finally realizing that he has some burned bridges to rebuild with his family.

Abby extends her visit to Chesapeake Shores when Nell is rushed to the hospital. Although Nell fortunately suffered only a minor illness, Abby’s sister Bree makes a trip home. As Abby spends time reconnecting with Bree and the rest of her family, she begins to contemplate how wonderful it would be for her children to grow up around them in such a beautiful town. Trace reveals to Abby that he tried to find her in New York after graduating college, but backed off when he heard she was engaged to Wes. He also admits that the fast paced life of a touring musician caught up with him, and he’s in Chesapeake Shores to revive his soul.

The reunited O’Brien family enjoys Fourth of July fireworks in lovely Chesapeake Shores. Abby decides to stay in town permanently with her daughters, though that’s not the biggest surprise of the night: Mick has summoned his ex-wife – Abby’s mother, Megan (Barbara Niven) – to Chesapeake Shores. After years of strained relations, Mick believes it’s time for the family to reconnect. Between her upcoming move to her hometown and her mother’s return, Abby is not sure what’s in store for her, but is excited for this new chapter in Chesapeake Shores.
