Featuring Rachel Platten’s Hit Song “Stand By You”

Helen (Brenda Strong) can't help but try to constantly play matchmaker for Claire (Beau Garrett), her beautiful daughter who believes love can only be found through fate and not a fix up.  After Helen finally vows to avoid Claire's love life, she inadvertently meets Eric (Benjamin Ayres), a single thirty-something doctor.  Helen arranges for him to secretly meet her daughter and the two quickly fall in love until Claire eventually learns the truth of her mother's involvement.  Feeling betrayed by both Helen and Eric, she breaks off the relationship until he fights to win Claire back.

Unlucky at love, Claire Richards is a young bakery owner who firmly believes finding romance is a feat best left to chance and destiny. However, Claire’s controlling mother Helen has other ideas. Wanting a happy relationship for her beautiful single daughter, Helen devotes herself to playing matchmaker and finding her the perfect man. With her business in danger of going under, Claire tells Helen that saving the bakery is her main priority and asks her to stop meddling in her life. Making it seem like an act of fate, Helen deceives Claire by moving forward with a plan to fix her up with Dr. Eric Carlton, a handsome pediatrician and all-around good catch.

Sparks immediately fly between Claire and Eric, and everything goes according to plan. That is, until Eric falls head over heels in love, and becomes increasingly uncomfortable deceiving Claire by not sharing the truth about how they met. When Helen finally confesses that Claire’s introduction to Eric was a setup, not an act of fate, Claire feels betrayed and abruptly breaks up with Eric. As she hopes a mysterious restaurant critic will help save her bakery, and wonders if Helen will ever stop interfering in her life, the young pastry chef must decide if she’s willing to make her own destiny by learning to trust again and giving love another chance.

Claire Richards has always been a romantic but is currently doubtful of ever finding any for herself. After seeking out dates on a regular basis, Claire makes a decision to give up and let the right one find her. When he does, Claire is ecstatic, but unbeknownst to her, her mother Helen has set the whole thing up. Claire has a habit of looking too hard for things right in front of her, but eventually decides to lean on those close to her and accept that sometimes fate won't always makes sense.

Helen Richards is a friend to all and loved by many thanks to her unique skill in finding the right match for any given person. Anyone except her best friend and daughter Claire, that is. Feeling as if she's let Claire down, Helen continues her match-making ways in secret despite Claire's direct and clear request to stop. When she ends up succeeding, she's thrilled, but realizes she's now dug herself a hole that will be very tricky to climb out of.

Eric Carlton works in a pediatric ward; the life of a doctor can make dating seem like a chore, so Eric has been playing that card as an excuse for a while. When Helen winds up match-making him with Claire, Eric realizes he's found the one. However, he can't help but feel guilty knowing Claire believes their meeting to be fate.
