Anna Colton is a career-focused San Francisco divorce attorney whose busy professional life has replaced her desire for romance. When she learns that her widowed Aunt Belle has hastily agreed to marry Sean Castleberry, a charming veteran movie star — who’s been married multiple times — Anna flies to Belle’s Seattle home, determined to talk her out of it. There, she meets Sean’s son, Dr. Clay Castleberry, a handsome and successful surgeon who, perturbed by his father’s impulsivity, also plans to put a stop to the wedding. Though they immediately dislike and distrust one another, Anna and Clay discover they share common ground, and begin plotting to prevent the marriage from taking place.

Frustrated by Anna and Clay’s attempts to stop the wedding, Belle and Sean fly to Las Vegas to elope. When they realize that Belle and Sean’s love is not a passing phase — and that they’ve made a mistake by not supporting them — Anna and Clay rush to Las Vegas to stand by them on their special day. As Anna and Clay search for the happy couple, they start developing romantic feelings for each other.

When Anna and Clay catch up with Belle and Sean, they all agree to have the wedding in Seattle as originally planned. Back in Seattle, with wedding preparations underway, Anna remains smitten with Clay and eager to let love back into her life. But when a misunderstanding suddenly makes Clay suspicious of Anna’s motives — and has him doubting his father’s character — he decides to leave town without attending the wedding. Now the young divorce lawyer must race to save the love she’s longed for, and make it back in time for her aunt’s wedding.
