on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
Holly Robinson Peete (“21 Jump Street,” “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper”) and Rick Fox (“Greenleaf,” “Oz”), star in “Morning Show Mystery: Mortal Mishaps,” a new original movie adaptation of the first novel by “Today’s” Al Roker and Dick Lochte, premiering on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Local restauranteur and TV chef Billie Blessings (Holly Robinson Peete) loves doing her cooking segments on successful morning show “Wake Up West Coast,” but she is not looking to fill the vacancy created by the sudden death of one of the show’s co-hosts.  But when the show’s executive producer Rudy (Ben Wilkinson) drops dead in the middle of his speech to the show’s staff – during a dinner at Billie’s restaurant – all eyes are on Billie after it is soon revealed that the man died of cyanide poisoning.

The lead investigator on the case is Ian Jackson (Rick Fox), who just happens to be Billie’s father’s former partner on the police force, and a man with whom Billie shares a somewhat complicated history.  Ian wants to believe that Billie had nothing to do with the murder but when her restaurant’s chef, Maurice Terrebone, shows up on security camera footage delivering the very cake that killed the man, he is taken in for questioning.
Absolutely certain that Maurice would never kill anyone, Billie enlists the help of a couple of her colleagues from the station to help her look for clues.  Soon, Billie has helped prove to Jackson and his partner that Maurice is innocent, and he is freed. However, the evidence seems to point more and more to Billie, and now she is going to have to piece together all the details of the murder and identify the killer in order to prove her own innocence.
