"Into the Grand Canyon"
Premieres Thursday, February 21 at 8/7c on National Geographic Channel

As the Grand Canyon celebrates its 100th year as a national park this February, Into the Grand Canyon follows National Geographic photographer Pete McBride and journalist Kevin Fedarko on a 750-mile journey on foot through the entire length of one of America’s greatest monuments, the Grand Canyon.

Throughout their passage, McBride and Fedarko encountered an astonishingly diverse and powerful landscape. With no trails to follow and at times thousands of vertical feet up, they battled dehydration, heat stroke and sprained ankles. Their quest was more than just an endurance test – it was also a way to draw attention to the unprecedented threats facing one of the most revered landscapes – development, mining and resource depletion.

The documentary is a story of extreme physical hardship that stretches the bonds of friendship, a meditation on the timeless beauty of the sacred grounds, and an urgent warning about the environmental dangers that are placing America’s national treasure in peril.
