Software sales executive and workaholic Molly Clark (Nicky Whelan) is forced to take two weeks off during the holidays when her boss shuts down the business as a bonus for his team’s hard work. For personal reasons that go way back, Nicky is not a big fan of Christmas and has always spent it working. But when she wins a radio contest and a trip to Jamaica, she packs up and plans to spend the week far from the holiday hustle-and-bustle on a quiet and sunny beach. She is more than a little surprised and displeased when she learns that the plane she is on is headed to Jamaica, Vermont, a snowy destination filled with people who just love Christmas.
Upon arrival at her destination, the Reindeer Lodge, Molly meets the lovely owners, Chris (Robert Pine) and Penny (Beth Broderick), a mom-and-pop bed and breakfast team who can’t seem to offer enough hot cocoa and for whom each day’s “happy hour” means milk and freshly-baked cookies. There’s no internet, spotty cellphone service and, well, this is not how Molly expected or wanted to spend her holiday. One of the other guest, Jared Davis (Josh Kelly), a handsome stranger who seems to take pleasure in Molly’s displeasure, yet who seems to love everything about the place that is Christmassy, which is just about everything.
As the days pass, Molly softens to all the Christmas activity around her and Jared begins to see in Molly something more than just the guest across the hall. There’s a spark from the very beginning, which Molly refuses to acknowledge, but which Jared seems determined to fan until it bursts into flame.
Driven by the kindness, understanding and Christmas spirit she has discovered during her stay, Molly mounts a campaign to save the lodge from foreclosure. It is a monumental undertaking that brings out the best in everyone. And before it’s all over, old lovers will reunite, new lovers will find each other’s embrace, and eight of the most magnificent reindeer you ever imagined will make their appearance, just before heading out for a long night of whatever it is reindeer do on Christmas Eve.
