OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network’s acclaimed original drama series, “Greenleaf,” will return with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, August 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, August 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series regularly airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. “Greenleaf” stars Merle Dandridge, Keith David and Lynn Whitfield and takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphismegachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful.
This season, the Greenleaf family tree has split at the roots as Jacob (Lamman Rucker) ventures off to begin his new career with long-time rival church Triumph Ministries, breaking faith with his father, Bishop James Greenleaf (David), while his mother, Lady Mae Greenleaf (Whitfield), struggles with Jacob’s decision to abandon the family. Meanwhile, after exposing her Uncle Mac’s (GregAlan Williams) crimes but failing to bring him to justice, Grace (Merle Dandridge) finds herself intrigued with someone new, Darius Nash (Rick Fox), a local journalist who’s been closely following the ongoing threats plaguing the Greenleaf empire.
Oprah Winfrey also returns in her guest starring role as Mavis McCready, the sister of Lady Mae Greenleaf and a close confidante to Grace Greenleaf. The series also stars Deborah Joy Winans (“Whitney”), Kim Hawthorne (“Switched at Birth”), Tye White (“The People Vs. O.J. Simpson”), Desiree Ross (“Falling Skies”) and Lovie Simone.
