          “The Crown” tells the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world -- Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street - and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Two houses, two courts, one Crown. Starring Claire Foy, John Lithgow and Matt Smith, the drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
          Per Netflix, this 10-episode series focuses on Queen Elizabeth II as a 25-year-old newlywed faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world's most famous monarchy while forging a relationship with legendary Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill. The British Empire is in decline, the political world is in disarray, and a young woman takes the throne.

          The series is based on the Award-winning play “The Audience.”
