on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
Featuring inspirational music by special guest star, Grammy Winner Keb' Mo, and Starring Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson, the original movie “Signed Sealed Delivered: Higher Ground” begins in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, where local New Orleans handyman and blues singer-songwriter Gabe Recolte (Keb' Mo) was not only left homeless, he was left broken hearted, too.
The storm came right before he had a chance to express his love for club owner Hattie (Karen Holness), the woman who truly sees who he is and can help him accomplish his life's purposes. As he is forced to evacuate and relocate, Gabe has written a heartfelt letter to Hattie, and he now puts his faith in God and the U.S. Postal Service to deliver it. When POstables lead detective Oliver (Mabius) retrieves Gabe's letter years later, he and his team (Booth, Lowe and Gustafson) face unusual challenges in solving the postal mystery in post-Katrina New Orleans. Throughout the case they hold onto their faith that while the letter will be received late, it will be delivered right on time when it's needed most.
Meanwhile Oliver is grappling with his own unexpressed feelings for his co-worker Shane, which motivates him to make plans for their long-awaited second date. Love is in the air in the Dead Letter Office, when Shane’s ex-boyfriend Steve’s (Mark Valley) arrives unexpectedly with an official government request for her to return to her post in Washington, DC to handle an urgent national security matter.
During Shane's absence, Oliver's father (Gregory Harrison) encourages his son to go to Washington, D.C. and tell Shane how he feels. At the same time, Norman and Rita make headway in Gabe's case while taking significant steps closer to each other romantically. After the storms of life have passed, will Gabe find his true love and connect with his destiny before it's too late? Will unrequited love finally be found among the POstables as well?
