"The Game of Dating"
Premieres Tuesday, January 31 at 8 PM ET/PT on TV One
TV One redefines the dating and game show genres this January with the debut of “The Game of Dating.” Hosted by popular comedian Tony Rock, the network's primetime game show will offer viewers provocative, sexy and hysterical new takes on classic dating show scenarios. The one-hour series premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
The Game of Dating begins each hour-long episode with three teams of friends and/or family who watch real dates in a "hidden camera" style from the comfort of their homes. Throughout the show, the teams, as well as Rock, will offer their funny and uncensored commentary. The couples could be on an awkward first date, enjoying a new relationship, or they could be an existing couple with history just trying to keep the magic going. The competing teams watch the dates and do their best to figure out the daters' stories and next moves in order to score cash.
On the series premiere, Farryn (28), a former Disney Ice Princess invites Edward to the rink for an ice skating date. The thrill-seeker likes a good boy who has a bad boy look. Edward (29) constantly gets told that he looks like Tupac and wants an ambitious woman with whom he can build an empire. The two singles meet at an ice skating rink for their first date where Edward immediately offends Farryn by whipping out $500 in singles and asking her to twerk.
Then Maddox and Erin visit a pottery class and get their hands dirty sculpting each other's bodies. Erin (36) is a single mom to a teenaged boy who's looking for Mr. Right. She goes on her very first blind date with Maddox (26), an athletic thrill-seeker who is training to compete in the 2020 Olympic games. The two singles meet up at a pottery class, where they must create their vision of each other using a block of clay. And it doesn't take long for things to steam up when Maddox takes off his top to reveal his own chiseled chest.
The three teams on this week's episode include the "Seoul Mate", "Hotlanta Homegirls" and the "Uptown Browns". "Seoul Mates" (Will, Steven, Naomi & Joshua) includes four friends from around the U.S. who bonded through their Korean backgrounds. "Hotlanta Homegirls" (Patti, Theresa, Stephanie) are three best friends who met at a Georgia church and now split their time between the Peach State and Hollywood. "Uptown Browns" (Iman, Nigel, Yvonne) are made up of a brother and two sisters, one of whom is a successful pageant contestant.
