John Singleton ("Boyz n the Hood") is a co-creator and executive producer on this character-driven docuseries that reveals the "origin story" of crack cocaine in 1983 Los Angeles and how the drug radically affected modern culture. Events are viewed through such characters as young street entrepreneur Franklin Saint (Damson Idris); Mexican wrestler Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative fleeing a dark past.

The concluding episode of the new three-part miniseries brings the title thaw in Yellowstone National Park all the way into summer, as the animals who inhabit the site must deal with escalating temperatures that reach heights impacting the local ecosystem. As if that's not problematic enough, a fire also threatens a family of Great Gray owls. Another clan strives to survive as the the 11 pups in a wolf pack seek sufficient nourishment.

Jane Lynch reprises her guest role as Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) mother, who leaves a clinical study to live with her son again.
